County Prison

The County Prison, under the direction of the County Manager, consists of a 160 bed local-option county correctional institution that houses minimum to medium security male state-sentenced inmates. The county prison operates a labor program that allows state inmates to work on county property and provide public services such as lawn care, garbage collection, janitorial services, and other services. This department also contracts out inmate crews to neighboring cities and counties to perform public works projects. The major revenue sources for this department are a daily fee for each inmate paid by the Georgia Department of Corrections and fees paid by the contracting cities and counties
